The famed MoJoe Griddle is an important part of the XploreBaja bag of tricks “kitchen tools” in serving delicious food along the remote Baja Peninsula. The 24-inch round griddle allows us to serve 10 people at the same time with all the food piping hot and just off the grill. For nearly 4 decades we’ve been using inferior products resulting in purchasing new tools nearly every year. Traveling nearly 50,000 miles a year on the dirt roads of the Baja Peninsula isn’t for the fate of heart and only the toughest of products can truly be deemed “Baja Proven.”
Over the past 2 years we have put El MoJoe through the paces including bouncing around the back of our off-road trucks for 100,000 miles! We have served countless breakfasts, lunches and dinners on beaches along both sides of the Peninsula and the XploreBaja Crew loves it!
The ease and quickness of setup, the simple cleaning and the ability to use it on the campfire, a BBQ and a portable single or double gas propane burner makes “El MoJoe” a perfect solution.
XploreBaja uses the MoJoe StrapOn Griddle Lip to keep the cooked food from being pushed off the end of the griddle. This allows veggies, bacon, sausage, chicken and anything else you want to cook from losing temperature while you finish up your final cooking. The MoJoe StrapOn Griddle Lip simply fits into two precision holes drilled into the top edge of the MoJoe Griddle.
After seasoning and cleaning El MoJoe with olive oil and kosher salt (you don’t have to use kosher salt) the griddle is ready to use for your favorite foods! To clean it you simply scrape El MoJoe with the large 8 inch MoJoe Scraper and then use olive oil and salt to finish up the cleaning drill! Bam ready to roll to your next location and fire up some amazing meals!
Another MoJoe product is their carrying case. YES, the MoJoe is a large hunk of seasoned steel and lugging it around isn’t easy unless you have the right tools. Lucky for us we do. We have a MoJoe Sack that is manufactured for easy carrying of the MoJoe Griddle.
We have tried the competitors to the MoJoe Griddle over the past 5 years including others that have come out in the past couple years, but we end up going back to “El MoJoe” because it just plain works. Food doesn’t run down into the middle of the disc style grills, liquids don’t puddle into an unmanageable pool and finally most others simply don’t have the space for feeding 10 hungry people.
We give the MoJoe Griddle and components a solid 9 on the scale of 1 thru 10.
We DID NOT receive any compensation, any discount and/or a free MoJoe Griddle for this review. In fact, we were so excited to get one we actually DROVE 75 miles to the manufacturer’s residence on a Friday evening in LA traffic to pick ours up!
Don’t hesitate to ask questions about El MoJoe right here at Xplore The Wilds and we will fire you our answer!
